Did you know cookware can be toxic?

I keep seeing ads for beautiful new pan sets that claim to be "non-toxic." Let me just give a blanket statement here to make it easy...if it says non-stick, it is 99% true that it is not non-toxic. The nonstick coating are made from toxic chemicals.

There are better choices and with a little practice you can get non-toxic pans to be nonstick. Really! I love cooking a fried egg in my cast iron pan! A little oil (such as butter/tallow/ghee or avocado/olive/coconut oil) and it will be nonstick, your egg will lift right up.

The safest cookware you can use is stainless steel, glass, enameled cast iron or raw cast iron.

Here are my favorites! & I will list budget friendly options to get you started using safer cookware sooner.

Stainless Steel

Favorite: I love cooking pasta in my stainless steel pot! Also great for making sauces!TIP: Use non-metal utensils so it doesn’t get scratched. I prefer wood or silocone. Try to stay away from plastic.CLICK ON IMAGES TO TAKE YOU TO AMAZON. PRICES ARE CURRENT BUT MAY CHANGE.

Le Creuset is my favorite and highest quality brand.

Cast Iron

HOW TO: Most new cast iron pans will come pre-seasoned but keep using an oil with a high smoke point such as avocado or coconut oil to retain the nonstick properties that come with a well seasoned pan. Let oil heat up before adding food.

Favorite: Searing and cooking meat in a skillet pan, especially with a cover to prevent splatter.

TIP: Holds heat well, keep below Medium heat

TIP: Hand wash, no soap
